Pretty standard start - I had an initial call with the recruiter, explained my background and why I was a good fit for the role (it's a very niche role) and was granted an interview.
Interview was pretty simple. Had some technical difficulties with video feed on the interviewer's end, but nothing major. Had a great conversation with hiring manager, we even had similar contacts in our history which I felt would be a plus, but ultimately was not granted the privilege of moving forward.
Was very surprising to be rejected, though, the hiring manager was very new - both to the company and the industry. She was a bit out of her league as a new employee. For context, I have over 20 years in this industry and about 10+ years of experience in the CX role I was being interviewed for.
I emailed both the recruiter and the hiring manager kindly written thank you notes, as I appreciated their time.
I waited a few days and was never sent a follow up or rejection email, which I found odd. Once again, I emailed the recruiter and still didn't hear back, so I logged in to the career portal where I saw "Not moving forward." Weird - was this a mistake?
Once again I emailed the recruiter and almost immediately the stock rejection hit my inbox. No feedback was given even after I requested it.
Overall a confusing and frustrating experience, both in being rejected, not being sent a communication about it, and then not receiving feedback. Might have been a blessing in disguise.
