Recruiter Screen: One of those calls where you can instantly feel that this isn't going anywhere. Basic questions about background, translation, role details. Nothing too much to note, have good energy, and hopefully that energy is reciprocated by the recruiter
Initial phone call, take-home test, technical interview with team lead and another QA on the team.
The position was for a fully-remote North American team. Unfortunately, someone making decisions didn't understand that meant that timezones and locations would be across North America. Due to this ignorance, I was declined despite being in one of the biggest cities in North America. This was a huge waste of time.
The interview involved three team members and focused heavily on Java and Spring, including definition-based and gotcha questions. The interview environment felt somewhat exclusionary. There was a noticeable lack of focus on the candidate experience, exemplified by one interviewer briefly leaving the session for a personal errand. The interviewers looked visibly annoyed that I wasn't able to answer some of their questions.
Following the interview, no feedback was received from the company. This aligns with several other negative reviews here on Glassdoor.
I highly recommended that the company re-evaluate its interview process to ensure a more positive candidate experience and consistent follow-up, regardless of the interview outcome. Interviewers play a crucial role in representing the company brand.
