I applied online. I interviewed at JPMorganChase (New York, NY)
Interview
When I applied to J.P. Morgan, the process began with an online assessment. It wasn’t just straightforward coding questions—though there were two algorithmic problems similar to what you’d expect on LeetCode—but it also included logic puzzles and an aptitude section. I had about an hour, and the pressure was to be both fast and precise, since their system grades for efficiency and correctness.
A week later, I had a recruiter phone screen. That call was non-technical; it focused on my background, why I was interested in the role, and some logistical matters like location preferences and compensation. They also emphasized J.P. Morgan’s values and wanted to see if I had a clear motivation for joining a large financial institution rather than a typical tech company.
After clearing that stage, I was invited to a Super Day, which was essentially a full slate of interviews. I had three interviews back-to-back, each about 45 minutes with a short break in between.
Was given a leetcode problem within the first 4 mins of the interviewer. Wish I was making this up. Interviewers did not really introduce themselves besides names, straight to the code problem. The interview felt extremely cold. No soul, no passion, no discussion
Asked very scripted questions and everyone took a lot of notes. I really enjoyed the people I spoke with and they really made me think about the role and my past

Interview
Asked a few questions about C++ via a word doc. The interviewer was very rude from the beginning of the interview. He seemed to be angry at me for even being in the interview and taking his time. This person should not be giving interviews. Maybe he wanted to yell at someone who couldn't yell back. Very unprofessional, I ended the interview early because I was so upset.
