I applied online. I interviewed at Hennepin County Public Defender (Minneapolis, MN) in Apr 2022
Interview
Was on Teams with a few managers. It was good and to the point. They seemed interested in ensuring teamwork and ability to work on your own. Abilities to go the extra mile like working more than 40 hours would be important.

Interview
I did a half hour Skype interview with the two internship program directors. They seemed very focused on completing the interview, and it was very impersonal. I may have caught them on an off-day (or a long day of back to back interviews), as they did not seem very energetic or engaged.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
They asked me generally what my goals were, why I went to law school, why I wanted to work with them, and what I hoped to get out of the experience. That was all combined into one question.

Interview
Interviewed with four attorneys including the state public defender. They asked a series of multi-part questions about my personality and sensibilities. They would repeat the question if need be and rephrase (some other agencies do not do this). They did not ask any client-based hypotheticals as most other offices have done.
