Only got until the phone/skype interview stage.
Prior to the call, I had submitted my application through the company's online recruitment platform.
The online process is very lengthy and has all the usual information usually required by large banks (personal details, previous education, previous professional experience, disabilities, etc.). Additionally, in order to assess your motivation and the way you think, there were three questions that you had to answer in less than 300 words per question. These were:
• Please tell us about your interest in the role that you have applied for and HSBC (in particular, why this specific role at HSBC, and what have you done that demonstrate your interest)
• What skills do you believe are important to be successful on the HSBC graduate or intern programme for which you are applying? Please give specific examples of how you have demonstrated some of these skills.
• In your opinion, what are the top three risks facing HSBC globally and why?
The subsequent phone interview was quite straightforward and relatively impersonal. It is quite obvious that they are just recording what you say in an online form for later review.
