I was contacted by a recruiter who had been hired by GM Financial to find suitable candidates for the position. I spoke with the recruiter for about 30-45 minutes about my qualifications and if I would be a good fit. We determined that it would be a good fit and he submitted my resume. Then I got a call from the hiring manager who wanted to schedule an in-person interview right away. This seemed very exciting since there are usually several steps before that. So we schedule the interview for a week later. On the day of the interview, I get a call from my recruiter who tells me that they have cancelled the interview without giving a reason. Keep in mind this was an hour and a half before the scheduled interview. They did not even reach out to me directly. I emailed the hiring manager to confirm and to ask whether the interview would be rescheduled and never heard back. A few days later, the recruiter reached back out to tell me that they had already made offers to two candidates and that they accepted. They thought about interviewing me to establish a relationship but reconsidered. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Either notify me directly with enough notice that you are cancelling the interview or do not schedule an interview if you have already made offers.
