I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Flight Centre Travel Group (Sydney) in Sept 2016
Interview
Okay here we go. Glass Door helped immensely with this whole process for me so it's only fitting i try to write up the exact process with some more details!
I applied online. Received an email saying I was successful and to arrange an interview using a web link on the said email. I arranged the phone interview. The call came about 20 minutes late as the interviewer was running behind schedule which she apoligised for. Glass Door gave me a good insight into the questions for the phone interview.
At the end of the call she told me that she would call me back and let me know if I had moved on to the next stage (group interview).
About 1 hour later i received a call inviting me to a tuesday or thursday session (held each week).
Went to the group.. Glass Door reviews are really good on this.
I arrived at a nice big building and waited outside the lift areas with about 20 odd other people. A lady came and took us into a room where you sat in tables of 3-4. Everyone chatted for about 10 minutes and filled out a basic form with your name, references, countries visited ect.
Then it was video time - bla bla bla about the company. The lady will ask if you know anything about the company or the founder - look for two seconds on google before the interview and remember his name so you can put your hand up and say it - she'll probably be impressed. A few people from flight centre talked - ask them questions it probs comes across well
Next up they ask you to partner up and get to know the person you’ve partnered with so you can introduce them to the rest of the group in 5 minutes and basically sell them. Ask them why they would be good for the job, where they like to travel/favourite place and something quirky and random so you get noticed. Some people do really well in this and some people really don’t – it’s quite obvious when you see everyone get do theirs.
We then had a short geography test that you had 10 minutes to complete
a few questions i can remember -
Then we had another video after they collected the papers probs while they marked them.
Next is a maths test which you get a nice big calculator provided for and 45 minutes to complete
you get a scenario with a family wanted to do a whole list of stuff like
family of 4, you get the kids ages (hint, their ages may change their airfare - the "child" airfare was for a 0-11 year old and one of the kids is 13 - i think its a trick), they want to go to london, but they want to stop off in singapore, and they need a booster seat in a car they hire
you get pages of info about the quotes for airlines, hotels and car hire and then you just have to answer questions based of what they want.
brush up on percentages and read each question carefully.
Whilst this is happening they call out individuals to do a sales role play which is pretty daunting.
Introduce yourself, ask the lady to sit down and ask her who what when why how. Most likely she'll say "i might go home and check with my husband” at the end (ie no sale on the spot). What you have to make sure of is that you arrange a time to have a consult over the phone – I asked what time her husband would be home and then asked what time would suit for me to call to have a discussion and I locked the time in like an appointment almost. You basically need to end the session with a deposit or a meeting or a phone conversation that’s booked!
Next up, another video of employee experiences –
After the video ends they’ll call out some names to come into another room – they called out 6 names including mine.
We left the room and entered a new room and were presented with sandwiches as we had made the next round – everyone else went home unfortunately.
You’ll have a 20 min break to eat and chat and then you’ll go back to the previous room to talk to a guy about salaries and commission. Then a lady will come and take half the group away (two groups of threes) and they will do interview style questions which each person (three questions each) – infront of the other two candidates. All the questions will be different for each person.
They might ask one guy about one time he showed persistence in the workplace and how it paid off. Then when it’s your turn he might ask about when you’ve overcome an obstacle and the outcome. Use specific examples of a specific time – you can just make up their name or if you remember a vague time something happened at your workplace and extend on it.
That was it! I got told they’d be in contact with me and check my references
Hope this helps – it was a full on day

Had to do phone interview, then assessment centre, then references. Then we got an offer to work 45 minutes away from home. Unfortunately I couldn't travel but it sounded ok.
