I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Flatiron School
Interview
I applied online and was contacted for a 30 minute phone screen. The interview consisted of a few, simple questions followed by some role playing. The interviewer provided immediate feedback and said I did very well. She then told me that they would be contacting me to set up an interview with the next up in the chain of command. I never heard from them again, despite my follow up. The most bizarre (ironic) part of this ghosting experience is that the people with whom I was communicating with work with Flatiron students on Professional Development....yet they were incredibly unprofessional themselves. This is a red flag not only for potential employees, but certainly for potential students as well -- based on their actions, I don't believe that Flatiron school staff are as knowledgeable and skilled in career development subject matter as they purport to be.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Role playing, with the interviewer pretending to be a student who was frustrated at the job search process.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Flatiron School (New York, NY) in Jun 2021
Interview
Overall the interview process was unremarkable but pleasant. They were respectful of my time and asked questions that are to be expected during the interview process. One red flag should have been that they were in a big rush to make a decision. I was very accomodating by moving appointments in my calendar to accommodate their rush. I was a little bit hesitant to interview with them given the bad reviews on Glassdoor and insight from people who have worked at Flatiron School but I was interested in the position so went through the process. They told me I made it to the final interview stage and set up at interview for the next morning. I responded to say I could make it at that time and cleared my schedule, again, to accomodate them. No one showed up to the interview and I didn't hear back from they until 8pm that night saying they hired another candidate. I thought that was unprofessional and inconsiderate, at least have enough respect for people to let them know before the scheduled interview that you've gone in another direction. I hope they treat their students better than they treated me.
I interviewed at Flatiron School (Boston, MA) in Feb 2020
Interview
The interviewer was knowledgeable and very efficient. They knew a lot about the company culture and the process. There weren't any surprises and we ended up having a nice conversation about the business and the students that they have.
