The interview process went smooth till the round with VP of engineering and a senior product manager (which was the last round) after which there was a wait for a week just to know whether I got through or not.
I constantly had to reach out to the recruiter to know whether I have made it or not. Initially the recruiter said everything seems positive and she's yet to get the final confirmation from stakeholders.
After a week, when I nudged the recruiter, then the recruiter called me up to say that the position I interviewed for has been dissolved and ExpressVPN has considered not hiring QA anymore for the project.
Highly disappointed. For someone who recently faced a layoff, is unemployed and is urgently in need of a new opportunity, this unprofessional attitude was a major and unnecessary stressor to me.
Please do not do this! Especially to your interview candidates who experienced layoff from their ex-employers. They are already in a very high stress situation with a family to take care of. Tell your interview candidates the outcome immediately and do not keep them hanging around for so long.
