      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      25 Sept 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pune
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Exabeam (Pune) in Aug 2023

      Interview

The interview process was not very well structured, it felt like they were also trying to figure out the things to ask. First round was a DSA problem + general Java and Spring question + some bit of the project. Felt like a 2 way discussion. Second round was project round + tech stack + system design (microservices + multi-tenancy ). The interviewer also went into salary expectations and my performance rating for the last cycle in current company. Did not get a good feeling about the discussion as it was very mechanical and rapid-fire question answer session. post that things went silent for few days and again another technical interview with a person who covered again the project + tech stack + system design (primarily around benchmarking and capacity planning of systems). Person was cool and had a health discussion but felt repeat of the last rounds. The last round was around behavioural which felt like they are interviewing a new grad as the questions revolved around family and career choices (since school) Post that I got a message that I was selected but never got any offer from them. Atleast communicate with the candidate about the updates (even if you are not going ahead). Second feedback - be explicit and tell the candidate what they can expect in the particular rounds

      Interview

They have a terrible attitude, and it's funny that they don't know what to ask the candidates. Also, they don't know how to talk about their company in front of people they don't know.

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      9 Aug 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Mateo, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Exabeam (San Mateo, CA) in Jan 2018

      Interview

The experience was very disappointing and thoroughly unprofessional. I am completely okay with constructive feed back or even a rejection as long as the company or its employee's carry themselves in a respectful and ethical manner. The call began with their manager calling an hour prior to the scheduled time. Which was a bit of a surprise but not that big of a concern. The call dropped multiple times and I think the hiring manager who was conducting the interview had a hard stop of 1 hr. After wasting a good 10-15 mins in call failures, we finally connected over phone and he gave me a brief intro of the work that Exabeam does and what his role and tech stack is. He then asked my to speak about myself and the work that I do. Once done with the intros we had around 30 mins remaining out of which last 5-10mins of the interview were supposed to be for me to ask questions. He gave me a problem to solve on coderpad (or equivalent) and I successfully solved the problem in the most optimized way in 15 mins. He asked me to execute my code, which I did and it printed the correct answer. This is when the interview took a turn for the worse. The manager seemed puzzled and borderline annoyed at the outcome and instantly gave me another problem to work on. At this point there were only 10 mins remaining and he had a non-negotiable hard stop in about 10 mins. As I tried to solve the question the vibe that I felt from the manager was of rushing me to solve the new problem. He was basically keeping a countdown timer of how much time I had remaining and kept on saying as much. I stayed professional and tried to work on the solution but had already made my mind up about not pursuing an opportunity to work with such a person. The interview ended around the time he had to leave with no opportunity afforded to me to ask any questions. Overall, it was a very unprofessional and negative experience. It would be beneficial to treat future employees with dignity as an interview is bi-directional and gives a good look into the potential future employer and work culture.
