I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Energy Exemplar (New York, NY) in Oct 2018
Interview
Two phone interview rounds.
The first one was a screening call with an HR person. She asked basic screening questions and about my education, visa status, etc. (they're usually open to work visa sponsorship).
The second round was with the hiring manager. She asked questions from my resume, questions related to relevant projects, and about my experience in a support role; since the position is very support-oriented. A lot of situational questions (what kind of work environment I preferred, team worker vs. individual contributor, relationship with superiors and colleagues, etc.)
And of course, what experience do I have in energy markets and/or production cost modeling.
They don't expect candidates to have any such experience, although it is a big plus. They do expect good analytical and mathematical skills, and knowledge in statistics.
