I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Element Materials Technology (Newark, CA) in Apr 2026
Interview
Had a 2 minute call with a recruiter in which I was asked my salary expectations. Gave a ballpark of $85-90k (range was $79-104k), as I didn't know much about the COL in Newark at the time. Talked to an engineer 2 days later (15 min interview), and he didn't ask me much about myself, just talked about the job. Received an offer of $85k 2 days later that I was planning to take, but after looking at potential apartments, I asked if there was any flexibility in the base pay, with a suggestion of $95k. Received an automated email 3 days later saying they were moving on with other candidates. My follow up email and call were left unanswered. So it seems that Element is very against any type of negotiation.
I applied online. I interviewed at Element Materials Technology (Morgan Hill, CA) in Sept 2025
Interview
the interviewer did not turn on camera and ask generic interview questions with a little technical interview in the end. he was nine and i did pretty bad and still got accepted
