I have recently finished 2 rounds of interviews for this company over the process of 1 month and it was a very poor experience on their part. My application was done through a recruitment agency.
The first round went extremely well despite an initial understandable rescheduling. The second round was scheduled on September 9th and was then rescheduled to the following week of the as the person I was due to meet with was sick on the day. Upon the next rescheduling, the interviewers did not turn up for the interview as they assumed I was on leave, which I never was, and I believe this was a convenient lie that they pulled out because they had evidently forgotten about the interview. This was already a sign that there was not going to be any offer made but I went along for the belief that maybe it was for me, as I have the transferable skills and I had hope. I wish I withdrew my application at that time.
The interview was rescheduled for the next day and on the next day I met with another person instead of the original person, as was the initial plan. This other person would have been the person my potential role would report to. If the interview was rescheduled to accommodate for an initial person who wasn’t who I would directly report to, why not just meet sooner with the designated line manager and not draw out the process? It was clear that the potential line manager in the interview was thrown into the interview last minute as they were not prepared and one particular question I was asked by them seemed so irrelevant to my experience for why I am a viable candidate as of right now.
I ultimately found out I was unsuccessful as I seen the job ad posted on Indeed before I was notified it was a no by the recruitment agency. This was very cruel. It was a pity as I know I had the relevant attributes for the role, and I wanted the role, but I believe the decision was ultimately personal as I could tell that myself and the potential line manager were not gelling.
I had sent along a portfolio of my work but I had no confirmation on whether that was even received. No questions were asked to give examples of any decisions or actions made in my most recent roles to explain why I would be a fit for this role. I had so many answers and examples prepared of commercial actions and plans that I have carried out but instead the questions I was asked were very vague and blasé that it was a very disheartening experience. At one point I also questioned whether this role was even active as one of the interviewer’s had mentioned that they were meeting people to put together a talent pool. Very poor overall on their part.
