I applied online. I interviewed at DoorDash (Toronto, ON) in May 2023
Interview
The interview process is WAY too long - it felt like they strung me along for over 2 months.
You first have a 15 minute pre-screening chat with the hiring manager and if they feel like you're a good fit, you get to actually participate in the interview process. THEN you speak to a recruiter in Talent Acquisition. If Talent likes you, then they invite you to do a case study exercise that they said normally takes ~5 hours to complete but they ask that you submit within 24 hours. If the hiring manager likes your work, you move through to the two interview rounds - 1 hour each round and within each round is two back to back 30 minute interviews. First round is the hiring manager and a close stakeholder to the team. Second round I got someone who reported to the same manager and a stakeholder. In these rounds, it's a mix of behavioural questions and mini case studies that you just talk through and showcase your thought process.
After the interviews, if they decide to move forward with an offer, you will speak with the GM of Canada as a conversation/get to know you better.
Culture fit is very important, very millennial/gen Z casual working culture and even when being interviewed. Borderline unprofessional behaviour from interviewers due to this - going off camera for half of the interview to figure out what questions they are supposed to be asking me, interrupting me mid sentence, the list goes on...

Question 1
You need 1000 conversions by next week, what do you do?
Had a phone screener with a recruiter who very clearly did not want to be there and just asked typical generic questions about my background, communication styles, etc. Was given a take home case study and short SQL exercise and given 48 hours to return it (which I spent most of my weekend on) only to receive an auto reject email two days later. I did not get to speak to the hiring manager or anyone on the team I applied for.
Fairly simple recruiting process. Intro chat with recruiter, case study round, debrief of case study, then final round in office with team. Was given an Excel sheet full of transaction data and asked to put together a client-ready deck of slides with insights (graphs encouraged) and recommendations based on what was found.

I went through two rounds, with HR and my would-be manager. Both were fairly straightforward. I did think the manager interview went well, but no dice. I believe they look for a certain style in approach that needs some research.
