I typically don't write reviews but this interview is one that I felt very strongly about. I've heard a lot of great things about D.E. Shaw's culture and how you can experience the amazing culture even during the interview process, etc. My experience was far from that. The first round interview content was very easy, nothing technical. The interviewer, however, was disinterested during the whole interview, did not bother to turn on their camera, and was not from the fundamentals group. I did not feel the level of respect that matched the preparation I had put into the interview. I hope D.E. Shaw takes steps to ensure that their interviewers are dedicated to the process and treat candidates with the respect they deserve.
