I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CodeAI (Seattle, WA) in Sept 2023
Interview
I initially went into the process with a positive impression as I enjoyed meeting with everyone at Code.org and thought folks were extremely grounded, polite and humble. I liked that people generally spoke candidly about their work and time at Code.org and left plenty of time for Q&A. Given the level, the interview process was fairly standard with less of a focus on coding questions and more on design and leadership. Overall my interview experience was fairly positive until right at the end when, despite being told that I was one of the two choices of the role, I was totally ghosted with a pre-canned "Thank you" e-mail. When I replied asking to see if I could get any other feedback or to otherwise stay in touch, I received no response (or any further contact from anyone at Code.org). I understand the litigious society that we live in but this level of apathy/ghosting leaves an incredibly sour taste in my mouth (especially after 6+ interview rounds). Solely on the basis of how they treat candidates who've invested their time in the process, I would never recommend anyone apply for a job at Code.org.

Thank you for providing feedback on your interview experience and for your kind words about your initial impressions of our team and the interview process.
We apologize for your negative experience in the late stages of the process. We genuinely value each candidate who participates in our process and it's disheartening to hear that you felt ghosted after investing so much time with our team. This is not the level of care and professionalism we strive for with candidates.
Typically we offer final stage candidates an opportunity to receive feedback. Missing this was an unfortunate mistake on our part and we would still like to offer you the same courtesy. If you are interested, please email recruiting@code.org.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
