I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CloudNC (London, England) in Jan 2019
Interview
I applied as a junior/mid-level engineer.
There were two phone calls and then two remote coding exercises in C++. The challenges were maths-related (possibly due to my background) and I found them reasonably manageable.
The interviewers were mainly interested in general mathematical understanding, intuition for abstractions, and the ability to write tidy code that follows established practices.
The overall process lasted around 4 weeks but that was over the Christmas break.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CloudNC (London, England) in Oct 2020
Interview
A brief call with CloudNC's Head of Talent to discuss my previous experience and the role, followed by a 1.5 hour technical interview conducted remotely.
Overall, a really accommodating and refreshing experience. I was contacted within 24 hours of applying, and CloudNC remained frequently in contact with me thereafter to update me on the status of my application. These guys are clearly keen to make a good impression on their applicants, and it shows. Of the four people I spoke to within the company, everyone was really approachable and friendly.
The technical interview was solving an average difficulty problem. My only word of advice is to treat the exercise as though you're writing production ready code. I made the mistake of purely focusing on the logic side of the problem and overlooked some other aspects, such as const correctness, which would otherwise have been second nature in a working environment.
These guys are looking for developers that can work independently and cause minimal overhead for the other developers, so be sure to demonstrate these qualities in your interview!
