I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Peoria, IL) in Feb 2018
Interview
I heard back very quickly regarding an initial phone screen with a recruiter. From there I talked with the Program manager. From there I was asked to come to Peoria, IL to interview onsite.
The onsite interview was an all day thing. They provide transportation and a hotel. The interview day consisted of a tour of Peoria, a couple informal conversations with various people in HR and then a panel interview. The panel interview was awkward because the interviewers were furiously writing the entire time. It felt very impersonal. The casual conversations went great. There were a few other candidates at the interview day.
I waited four weeks after to coming to Peoria to be rejected by call. I heard nothing in between that time, which was shocking seeing as the rest of the process moved very quickly The candidate experience post-interview was really horrible. It tainted my before positive view of the company. I'm not sure what they were looking for that I didn't have, but it's not fair to flat out ignore final round candidates no matter the reason. Very unfortunate.
