I was contacted the same day I applied for an interview at their San Ramon, Ca. location. The interview was scheduled, and I did some more research on this organization. After conferring with my partner, I decided that this job would not be a good fit for me. I made this decsion for several reasons. 1. I am currently an educator looking to supplement my part time income. This seemed like a good opportunity to stay in the educational field, and generate more income. But, on further research, I decided that the business model was too predatory for my taste. Capitalizing on educational needs is one of the largest equity barriers our society has, and I didn't want to be a part of it. 2. The job reviews regarding scheduling, pay, and management were also a huge turn-off. I may be a part time instructor, but that does not mean my time is limitless, and I would rather have avoided the headache of fighting over scheduling with the management. I called to inform the manager that I was cancelling. I said, "I'm afraid I'm going to have to cancel my interview this afternoon." The manager replied in a terse and abrupt tone "Okay, what happened?" I said, "I don't think I would be a good fit for this institution at this time." Before I even finished the previous sentence, the manager scoffed and said "Ok, fine" and hung up on me. I'm glad I didn't go in. If you value integrity and civic mindedness in education, stay away from this place.
