I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Boston VA Research Institute (Boston, MA) in Jul 2025
Interview
The initial HR screening was pretty straightforward. I'm sure they were just screening out any people that clearly had no clue what they were doing. The second round technical interview was asking some simple SQL questions, basically on how to make joins and how to store scientific data effectively. I ended up not being selected for my immigration status (they only hire citizens!)

Question 1
How much experience do you have with health data, or how does your experience align with working with health data?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Boston VA Research Institute in Nov 2024
Interview
After receiving a technical assessment from a recruiter, I spent several hours completing and polishing the exercise, submitting it the same day. Despite my prompt turnaround and considerable effort, I had to follow up after a week of silence. They responded two days later, claiming they were still reviewing submissions. After another week and a half without updates, I reached out again only to receive a brief rejection.

Interview
I spoke with the hiring manager directly on the phone first who also replaced a screening call. The next round would have been with a panel of colleagues via zoom. She was very pleasant and overall it was a good experience, but I didn't move onto the next round.
