Telephone interview, then two face to face interviews.
The telephone interview was a general background to both the role and my experience.
The first face to face interview was with two senior managers. They were very welcoming and honest. We discussed my experience and they asked a number of questions. The questions were challenging but both the interviewers were very keen to understand the skills and experience I had and workplace behaviours. They were very open and answered my questions. This was a very positive experience.
The last interview was a face to face with a manager and an engineer from the relevant team. Being led into the room the body language was very closed and unwelcoming, no eye contact - lap tops opened as a barrier, legs crossed and fixed.
The lead interviewer opened with the line "let the interrogation begin". This was meant in a joking way but obviously was not ideal when said with a dead pan expression.
Within a few minute I realised I would not get the role. The interviewers did not give the impression they wanted to get the best out of myself as an external candidate. This also made me thing that if , by some miracle, I was offered the role I would be unlikely to accept it due to the attitude that the interviewers seemed to give off.
Later in the process I asked for feedback on my application and also offered to give feedback on the interview process - I received no correspondence on this,
