I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Automated Trading Desk LLC (Mount Pleasant, SC) in Apr 2008
Interview
Interviews started with a 1/2 hour interview with the CEO. Later, 2 hr programming test with 7 questions (solve any 5). Coding questions on C++ that need usage of STL, exception-safety, singleton, thread-safety, network programming. 1.5 hour discussions with 5 team members on the programming solutions. In depth questions on the design approach, patterns, OS and networking fundamentals. Your programming solutions tell them a lot about your proficiency and servers as a good discussion starter. Later, 45 minutes problem solving questions with the team lead. Read "Programming Interviews Exposed" (2nd edition). Later 1 hr IQ test. If you can remember cell phone numbers of two new friends without repetition, don't worry! Later, 1/2 hr personality test (have you killed anybody? kind of questions). Great people, awesome office space. Company paid dinner and drinks with team members afterwards.
