I applied online. I interviewed at Arena Club (CA) in Jun 2026
Interview
I went through nine calls with Arena Club, over the course of three weeks. Many of the calls included duplicate questions, I was given the impression that everyone just wanted to be part of the interviewing process. A lot of interviewers were coming into the call with clearly little skill or preparation for interviewing.
Despite the lengthy interview process, I still couldn't get clear answers about working hours, AI use, or working from home by the end of the process. I sent an email with my final concerns and just never heard back from them again.
I would avoid this company at all costs, I was repeatedly told how chaotic the day to day is but did not realise that would extend through to the interview process too.
Arena Club claim they have a flat structure but I think that goes against them here, it was an incredibly frustrating experience. I don't think anyone could give me a clear answer on how the company operates because they don't know themselves.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Arena Club (CA) (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2026
Interview
I had a very disappointing interview experience with Arena Club.
I was initially contacted by an external recruiter and later by an internal recruiter, but the overall process felt disorganized and lacked clear communication. The first interview was presented as a conversation with the CTO, but it was unexpectedly scheduled with a member of the data team instead. I was not given any clear guidance on the format, expectations, or topics for the interview.
During the interview, the experience felt more like a rapid-fire Q&A than a thoughtful discussion. The interviewer seemed to have a prepared list of questions and did not appear very interested in understanding my background or experience in depth. I also felt that my responses were frequently interrupted, which made it difficult to have a meaningful technical conversation.
At the end of the interview, there was no clear communication about next steps or timeline. After following up with both recruiters, I received a rejection about a week later. I completely understand that not every candidate will be the right fit, and companies are entitled to pass. However, I believe the recruitment process should still be respectful, transparent, and well-coordinated.
Overall, the experience left me with concerns about the company’s hiring process and communication culture.

They made me meet with a data scientist as a QA Engineer. Weird choice but I went with it.
Moved onto 2nd round and it was focused on SQL which seems kinda dumb and doesn’t actually assess my actual experience.
