      Call Centre Agent Interview

      7 Feb 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Edmonton, AB
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Income Life (Edmonton, AB) in Feb 2017

      Interview

Do not apply for this company, it is a scam/pyramid scheme. I initially applied for a Call Centre Agent position, I received an email from their receptionist about said position, to come in for an interview. Be aware, that when you receive an email, the receptionist will not give business details as to mislead you into thinking that it is for a legitimate Call Centre position. In reality, this is not the position at all! Upon arrival, you fill out a forum and I was interviewed by not even the person the receptionist had told me in the email. Instead, I was interviewed by another associate, whom started to pitch me a sale position. The further I asked questions, the more aware I was that this was/is a pyramid scheme/scam! They will give you logistics and make the position sound like you will make a lot of money. The reality is, you will make no such thing, as they entail you to 3 weeks unpaid training, as well as zero base pay (but they will try to swindle you with giving you 'union benefits' promises) it is all solely commission/performance based. When the associate asked me if I had any questions, I asked them simply, "What does this sale pitch have anything to do with the call centre agent position I had applied for?" and the associate was taken aback. The associate realized that I had caught them in their scheme and FALSE ADVERTISING for a FALSE position. They asked me to elaborate further on whom sent me the email because, apparently, the position I had 'applied' for was 'customer service/sales' (it wasn't, I had applied for the call centre agent position which was what they had ADVERTISED and MISLEAD me on the online application and email). I told the associate whom replied and set up the appointment, and whom initially I was going to be interviewed by. The associate excuses themselves out of the room, and comes back roughly 5-10 minutes later. When the associate comes back, they give me this *hilarious* excuse as to why they LIED with their ADVERTISED position... They tell me, "Oh, when we made the advertisement the website just put us under 'call centre' because we book appointments with out clients." It was a pathetic excuse and blatant lie to swindle their way out of admitting--they had completely lied and gave false advertising for a non-existent position... to SCAM people into showing up to this ridiculous pyramid scheme interview. I warning to ALL people that see this company. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. DO NOT ANSWER THEIR EMAIL. DO NOT SHOW UP.
