      I applied online. I interviewed at AltaGas in May 2024

      The interview process included a telephone interview followed by an in person interview in AltaGas's office in downtown Calgary. After the in person and in-office interview, I was told I would hear back from the company the following week. The reason for the negative review is the message received. Most organizations do most, if not all, of the interview process on Teams/Zoom. The effort to come in person to an office for interviews is significant in today's hiring process. This is the message I received from AltaGas's automated HRIS system Workday: Hello XX, It was a pleasure meeting with you to discuss your background and interest in the xx . We appreciate your time, interest, and patience throughout the interview process. Unfortunately at this time, the hiring team has chosen to move forward with another candidate. Thank you for your interest in AltaGas and we wish you success in your future endeavors. Please note that we will retain your information on file for future opportunities. Sincerely, The Talent Acquisition Team I was expecting an email from the HR Advisor with a genuine message instead of the Workday autogenerated message I've got. I've also had organizations courteous enough to let me know with a phone call that I wasn't the successful candidate which gives me the opportunity to follow up and ask some questions as well as express my appreciation. For such a large organization with a significant number of HR resources, this approach is impersonal, cold, and speaks to the organizational culture.
