All communications with Allen Institute were highly professional. They were respectful, accommodating and correct. The work culture is collaborative, being a team player and a good communicator is an important asset. For senior analysts, there is very little bench-work involved as they hire non-PhD staff to carry out such day-to-day operations. Your job is to translate a large project into smaller milestones and make sure those deadlines can be met. The projects that Allen Institute takes on are very large group efforts, so even if you spend 100% of your time on a certain project, chances are that you are not going to be first or last author. So if you aim to continue on an academic career path, Allen Institute may not be the ideal workplace.
