      Software Engineer Interview

      7 Feb 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AWeber

      Interview

Classic HR "screening", which is usually generic questions that you can expect from someone in HR asking a technical person to answer. If you don't sound like a complete idiot, it's followed by two hours of online algorithmic testing that's scored, and also development that's evaluated by some mystery developer. In summary, it's at least a day, if not more, of interruptive work... and that's just to GET an interview. You will then wait weeks to hear back (while you could be accepting another position). It's about the least personable way I've ever seen a company interview someone, and I can't say it's a great way to really find the best people either. I can only imagine they came up with this process because the HR department got tired of filtering out candidates... but it also means they will lose really good ones.

      Question 1

The online algorithmic testing is 2 hours of trying to figure out multiple complex problems. It's also something you'd rarely face in the real world unless it was architected really poorly or you were dealing with massive amounts of "dirty data".

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at AWeber in Apr 2017

      Interview

Phone screen which was mostly a lot of blather about how awesome AWeber is. They didn't seem to want to ask many questions. Didn't do anything to sell me on their awesomeness either, so I don't feel I missed anything.

      Software Engineer Interview

      18 Feb 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Chalfont, PA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AWeber (Chalfont, PA) in Feb 2015

      Interview

The interview process was very smooth. An initial 45-minute phone interview was scheduled within 24 hours of applying. I was brought in for an onsite interview soon after. I was given a quick tour of their building (which is pretty impressive, by the way) and then had a total of 3 separate interviews. The first one was with their CTO and VP of Engineering. Then I had two more interviews with members of their Front-end and Back-end teams, respectively. They all seemed like all-around nice and knowledgeable people. The entire onsite interview process lasted about 3 hours. It was a very professional experience overall.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was asked a wide-ranging group of behavioral and technical questions with subjects such as programming specifics, frameworks, databases, unit testing, and input validation.

      Interview

It was OK very conversational. When I was first interviewing everyone was very welcoming and open minded especially with the tour of the building which really blew my mind.
