What is overtime like at Cisco?

      Cisco reviews

      A company well-suited for retirement

      Commodity manager
      Former employee
      Shenzhen, Guangdong
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Offering a good work-life balance with minimal overtime, plenty of activities and rotation opportunities.

      Cons

For young employee, they often get assigned administrative tasks unrelated to their core work, such as organizing team-building events, booking restaurants, and planning performances for annual events. Additionally, if you encounter an excessively workaholic Chinese boss, there’s absolutely no work-life balance to speak of.

      not good

      Front desk receptionist
      Former employee
      Vancouver, BC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

good benefit, health covered, overtime and holiday paid.

      Cons

pay too low. not good managed

Good technical environment, but expect overtime

      Software specialist
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      Good technical level and atmosphere

      Cons

From time to time overtime, but paid.

Great and stable company to work for

      Cloud sales specialist
      Current employee
      Toronto, ON
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

-good pay, but not high or low compared to the rest of the big tech space -good work life balance and i never felt too overwhelmed while working here

      Cons

-very prone to restructuring every 1-2 years, especially in a recession economy. -pay could scale better over time with experience, but it is pretty stagnant. -a few dinosaur managers hanging around that should get shown the door, really holding back the org and hiring people that stroke their egos rather than doing actual good work.

      High demands, low salary

      Consulting engineer
      Current employee
      Kraków
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

External courses, free Cisco exam vouchers

      Cons

Internal trainings prepared by employees is a waste of time. They just do it on the lowest possible quality in order to show off in front of management. To get promoted you need to work 150% of what is expected from you, dance, sing, play chess, prepare lead some trainings, and ride a bicycle in your free time - they call it visibility. And don't expect promotion to be even close to the meaning of 'significant'. And of course, your overtime work will not be paid (only in some special cases it may be after you please your management to allow you to submit overtime). Tons of useless emails, every day passing the responsibility at its best.

      Overall good place to work

      Asic engineer
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Extra time off once a quarter including volunteering time off

      Cons

      Recently switched to unlimited PTO

      Great Place to Work

      Network consulting engineer
      Former employee
      Bengaluru
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

The company treats you really well and cares about your hobbies outside of work. If you're made to do overtime work then you're paid sufficiently for it. I've not seen any toxic behaviour in this organization during my 4 years of working here.

      Cons

It's easy to get complacent in an environment like this. If you want to stand out and grow quickly, you need to carve your own path and come up with your own initiatives that will get you noticed. This point can be a pro for some and a con for some.

      Unwelcoming

      Team leader
      Current employee
      Phoenix, AZ
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Vacation Time Off - paid time off with no limit to how many days you can take. Remote - no forced RTO

      Cons

Unwelcoming, untrusting, disregards years of experience for new employees. People I work with are fake nice, too many meetings, slow to make decisions, decisions made on feelings and not data.

      1

Out of touch management, old tech, disorganized, night work common

      Software engineer
      Current employee
      San Jose, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - WLB can be good if you're lucky and able to finesse the system - Interesting tech to work on and many clients, always work to do - older workforce emphasizes family values and time off for family - not a PIP factory - past severance packages have been generous - coworkers are respectful of privacy

      Cons

      - Management is out of touch, has high expectations that are poorly defined, and is extremely inflexible despite having very little technical knowledge - Pay is low - Management expects people to do extra work outside of normal hours and pressures employees to work tons of overtime - Tech is old - Career progression is limited - Offshore teams means working at night - Constant reorgs and layoffs - constant changes to team scope - Antiquated bug tracking/administrative system can be very confusing

      Good

      Quality assurance
      Current employee
      Detroit, MI
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Pay is good for what I do

      Cons

      No overtime or bonus pay
