GitHub's CEO doesn't think AI will replace developers. I'm seeing the same thing - AI helps with simple tasks, but can't handle the strategic thinking and complex problem-solving. Are people overthinking the AI threat?

    I think the distinction here is that AI cannot do these things YET. We all know of AI's current limitations, I think we are apprehensive about the potential of AI in the next few decades. And given the behaviors of employers (reducing teams and implementing AI as much as they can), I don't think anyone is overthinking so much as responding to the reality of the situation before us.

    He is spot on. I now have 6 months in the backlog instead of 24 months. I can revisit those authentication refactors, App migrations, additional form fields, validation rules, end to end tests, that i had no time to get to

Favoritism is a serious issue in some companies. People only listen to what they want to hear and are unwilling to accept different ideas or suggestions during discussions. When someone expresses an opposing opinion, they may end up being excluded or sidelined indirectly.

Juggling so many contexts in one day is a pain. What’s the best way you cope with it? Sometimes letting other threads fall off and focusing on what’s important is the way to me. Those threads will hopefully resurface.
