Description Rex is a king of health care in Raleigh. Part of the UNC HealthCare System, Rex Healthcare is a not-for-profit health care provider which serves residents of Raleigh and the rest of Wake County, North Carolina. Founded in 1894, Rex Healthcare includes the 430-bed acute-care Rex Hospital and two nursing homes with 230 beds, as well as primary and specialty care clinics throughout the area. Specialty centers and clinics provide services such as birthing, cancer treatment, same-day surgery, heart and vascular care, pain management, and sleep disorder therapy. Rex also provides home health and mobile emergency medical services. UNC HealthCare also includes affiliate UNC Hospitals.
