What is the hiring process like at GitHub?

I once had a prospect tell me after losing the deal that my discovery was great but I had started pitching too early and lost the thread of what they actually cared about, and that single piece of feedback changed how I run every call to this day. What is the most useful thing a prospect or customer has ever told you that made you genuinely better at the job?
Does working in sales make you feel like you're losing your edge? I’ve been working in sales for 5 years, since graduating from college, and feel like I'm less intelligent than before I started school. Because it’s all soft skills, I don't feel intellectually challenged, and I’m getting so forgetful. I have friends in other careers who are fully engaged all day, while I'm using 10% of my brainpower. Am I alone?
I have 32 years working in military prison and federal prison. If I applied to your position as a Sales Associate would you count those years as customer service? When speaking with my customers now in auto sales, I tell them I get my good customer service from working in prison. I had to be fair when dealing with them or I would go home with a few extra holes in my body, if I go home at all.
I have 15 years of experience in sales management and strong customer service experience in both phone-based and face-to-face environments. I have been actively seeking new opportunities for over a year, but I am finding it challenging to understand why applications are not progressing past the initial stage. I would appreciate insight into what employers are prioritizing today, as I am eager to improve my approach and better align with what organizations are looking for sales professionals.
I need advice on finding good door to door sales people. How do you find them and how do you train them? My friend and I just opened our first business.
GitHub's hiring process for the Senior Account Executive role is comprehensive and structured, typically spanning approximately four weeks to reach the final round. The process consists of several stages: Initial Screening: A 30-minute pre-screen interview with an HR recruiter. Manager Interview: A 45-minute discussion with the hiring manager. Technical Assessment: A 30-40 minute interview with the Technical Sales team leader. Final Panel: A one-hour panel discussion, which includes: A 45-minute presentation covering the Sales and Territory plan and 15mins Q&A session with VP of Sales A detailed 30-60-90 day plan Despite progressing through this rigorous selection process, I was ultimately not chosen for the position.
I believe that GitHub looks for talented people with a big heart. I’ve seen people from FAANG companies with impressive resumes interviewing and the positions being filled by individuals who are both talented and do volunteer work in their free time, have social projects, etc. You'll go through 7-9 rounds of interviews with more than 10 people and you need to make the difference. They will check all your references, so don’t ever lie about the roles you had, even if they are unrelated to the position. There’s a lot of questions about past experiences at work and team work! so note them down and smile!
