What’s the difference between Program Manager and Business Operations Manager roles?

  1. Business Analyst 1

    PgM is multiple project management and that is the core focus of the role: to make sure things happen. While a BizOps manager would be in charge of seeing certain strategic initiatives through to execution, the focus is more on the strategic part rather than the project management part. PgM is glorified PMO whereas BizOps M is more like strategy/ops consulting

    Unfortunately, to complicate things a bit, a Program Manager may just be a title, similar to Manager in consulting. My BizOps team title progression is Business Analyst > Program Manager. I’d do a bit more digging on the role description and team itself before coming to any conclusions.

Didn’t get promoted and thinking of leaving Deloitte for the next level at Guidehouse. It’s a title bump so I would get a raise, but I’m trying to weigh the opportunity cost of going to a “lower tier” firm known for more niche services. About to be a Senior 3 in people consulting at EY. Unsure when I’ll get to manager (EY seems to be not promoting as many rn). Offer from grant thorton offering me 20k more than I make now. Asking for a signing bonus as well. They’re building a new change management practice. Should I go?

People being let go bc of comparing performance against peers is bs. upgrading the team? how come other rigorous fields (investment banking, medicine, Big Law, oil & gas engineering, trading firms, etc) don’t feel the need to do this, yet they have the right people the teams need every year 😂 consulting isn’t the most rigorous/difficult/or prestigious career. just say it’s for the greed of the firm, at the cost of unempathetically uprooting employees lives & at least you’ll be honest.

My net worth is 343k as a 26 year old. Why do i still feel behind? Current salary is 140k. Friends in tech have been making 190k-350k from college up until now.
