When do we officially stop being young professionals? I've been thinking of myself as a young professional this whole time, but I'm 38. Can I still claim to be young?
Weird question, I know, please forgive me, but does your office allow you to wear shorts or open toed shoes in the summer? It gets stupid hot here and the fact that we can't wear summertime appropriate clothing in my office is pretty enraging to me.
Does anyone here have student loan debt? If so, how much? How old are you, and how long have you been in public accounting? PwC EY KPMG Deloitte
Ever feel like unemployment almost sounds better when your job pays barely more than the benefits, except with 10x the stress? Makes you wonder what the easiest way to get fired would be. Burn through PTO? Stop caring?
Is CLA really all lollipops and sunshine like their social media makes it seem?
You’re a rare breed and will def become a partner if you stay the course.
There’s plenty of tasks that be such a drag, but my days fly by and enjoy what I do
Are you boring 🥱
As someone that switched into deal advisory, there is not amount of money that would convince me to look at internal controls again lol
I have yet to work intern controls. Is deals advisory challenging? How is it
I always thought the crap co-workers/managers, toxic firm culture, and being treated as sub-human were the worst parts of audit.
Good to hear! I always found quarterly reviews and yearend analytics the most interesting as you could start to see the bigger picture (really understand the business and micro/macro factors that impact the business). As a staff and senior (especially on very large clients) it’s easy to get trapped in the mindset that what you do doesn’t matter or is boring as you are so deep in one or two processes, the walkthrough and the controls. Way easier to see the big picture on small jobs.
Your mindset is also what make a good M&A advisor. Like the way you think
Audit sucks
That’s what she said
You’re a staff. It gets boring
I think that must be true. After a few years in I’d probably think it’s not challenging but so far it is.
