Position Overview
CRH is expanding its Global Sustainability team and is looking to recruit one Analysts to join the existing Climate Action Team as part of Global Sustainability Department. Sustainability is the business opportunity for CRH to really accelerate and activate the OneCRH approach, realize its full potential, and reinvent the way our world is built.
The team’s aim is to support the development of a sustainability strategy with sufficient flexibility to enable CRH to adapt ahead of time to shifts in the external environment and to continue to deliver sustained value-creating growth – growth that is based around the provision of sustainable solutions for our customers’ needs and that is consistent with a sustainable built environment.


Reporting to the SVP Sustainability Strategy, this role can be based at one of three corporate offices in Europe (Dublin, Amsterdam, Madrid). As an Sustainability analyst you will play a role in advancing the critical agendas of Sustainability Strategy at CRH. You will help to develop the capability to systematically explore and understand future market and industry trends that will impact the construction industry and so support CRH’s ability to create value.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

In this role, you will work on project-type activities across the areas of Sustainability, specially working on Decarbonisation and value creation with recurring tasks including:

  • Monitoring and analysis decarbonisation roadmap, initiatives to evaluate target consecutions.
  • Supporting the implementation of a tool to manage decarbonisation roadmap, preparing reporting, simulations, scenario analysis, etc.
  • Monitoring macroeconomic, technological, sustainability and social news and trends.
  • Conducting analysis of trends, industry data and competition.
  • Identifying and understanding implications of construction trends and competitive dynamics to articulate potential scenarios.
  • Quantitatively assess the implications of findings, including financial analysis where relevant.
  • Rolling out of Sustainability initiatives and support the delivery of CRH´s sustainability ambitions, helping to shape a more sustainable built environment.
  • Supporting Sustainability reporting.


Key Functional Competencies and Relevant Experience

  • To be successful in this role, you will need to be educated to degree level ideally with relevant postgraduate or technical qualifications or equivalent in environment, sustainability, business, engineering, science, or economics.
  • It’s envisaged that you will have around 2 to 3 years’ experience of working in a similar role, perhaps in a consulting organisation as a business analyst or equity analyst, both of which would be considered advantageous.
  • If you have good systems capabilities and/or an interest in technology that would also prove useful in this role. Being a proficient user of Office365 with BI tool experience is an added advantage.
  • Flexibility is required within this role, which will include the core elements listed above but will be subject to change as the sustainability agenda evolves. As stated, the role can be based out of one of three CRH corporate offices Dublin (Ireland), Amsterdam (The Netherlands) or Madrid (Spain) but there will be ad hoc international travel from time to time according to the demands of the role.
  • Fluency in English written, and oral communication is required, but multi-lingual fluency is a plus.
  • You’ll be an experienced, ambitious, and strategically minded professional who is always looking towards the big picture with a clear focus on the future, specifically regarding trends, challenges and opportunities.
  • As a driven team player, you’ll possess the ability to contribute both individually and as part of the wider team to achieve objectives
  • You’ll be self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and be comfortable working in a challenging, fast-paced but rewarding environment.
  • A keen interest in current and future business trends in sustainability is advantageous.
  • In addition, you should have excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to gather and filter large amounts of information and data, and to present findings concisely to a range of stakeholders.
  • Your proven financial and analytical skills and attention to detail with a focus on results will also be a strength.
  • Finally, it is required to have proven interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable liaising with senior management. As you’ll be dealing with several projects simultaneously, the ability to multitask within tight deadlines will be beneficial.
