A cardiologist can work independently with an independent practice or for a medical institution. A Cardiologist's primary role is to assist patients with the treatment and diagnosis of heart health and conditions. They work with a patient's primary care physician and other doctors to devise a workable medical strategy. A Cardiologist usually works long and irregular hours and may frequently travel between different hospitals.

Educational requirements are similar to a doctor in any field. A bachelor's in a medical field is required by all employers with most also requiring many years of residency. An advanced degree such as a Masters or Doctorate in the specific area of cardiology is highly preferred amongst most hospitals. Cardiologists work hectic schedules often without a proper sleep regiment. Candidates should be compassionate, hardworking and dedicated to this profession.

Responsibilities for Cardiologist
