#Beyond Ireland hosted a group of 3rd and 4th year Computer Science students from ATU for our annual On-Site Hackathon last week. When they arrived onsite, the students teamed up with some of our engineers to work on a spooky Halloween-themed project! 🎃👻 Every year, we run this event to give students a taste of what it’s like to work with a leading tech company in the North-West. A huge shoutout to Sligo Chamber and SkillNet for funding this event, helping us to expand Beyond's impact on the local tech scene while building stronger connections with up-and-coming talent. Can’t wait to see where next year's hackathon takes us! 🔥 #TechTalent #Hackathon #Innovation #BeyondIreland #TechCareers #Collaboration #SligoChamber #SkillNet #FutureOfTech

We invited the 5th year LCVP students from the Ursuline College Sligo last week to give them a taste of what it's like, to have a career in Software Development. Some of our current Overstock employees are past pupils of Ursuline and they helped facilitate the visit as well as share their reasons as to why they choose a career in Software Development. It was a very insightful morning and a great way to promote women in technology.
What a way to celebrate our 10 year opening of the Irish office, but with a visit from our CEO, Jonathan Johnson & CTO, Joel Weight, who visited us all the way from Utah, in the US. We are proud of everything we have achieved over the past decade and are looking forward to the next 10 years & beyond. Here is a snapshot of our employees joining in on the celebrations!
September 2023 Yesterday, we hosted a "Coffee morning" where our employees had the opportunity to show off their baking skills and brought them into the office. This was in aid of the "North West Hospice", our chosen charity. We raised €455, which will be matched by the company. This was a lovely opportunity to catch with everyone, whilst also giving back to our community.
2022/2023 Graduate Programme After a very successful 12 months, the 2022/2023 Ireland Graduate Programme is wrapping up. Our 5 amazing graduates started their Overstock journey by joining our intern programme where they excelled and returned in 2022 as graduates. Throughout the year they were given additional training and support from a range of people within the Ireland office, to help them launch their software development career.
We were so privileged to spend some time with our local migrant community, providing support and advice to female engineers from Aremoja's Women's Group that were interested in learning about what a career in software development would be like. Emma Dukes and Bruna Souza (Graduate Software Developers) spoke about their journey on how they changed their careers from other industries and moved into software development. Kuriakose Mathew (Machine Learning Engineer) gave a very informative insight on what it's like to work in Machine Learning and Lucia Macari (Director of Operations- Ireland) talked through the many different types of roles available when considering a career in Software Development and Sharon Gannon provided advice on how to write their CV's. #womenintech #techcareers #community #careers #learning #machinelearning #softwaredevelopment #engineers
Our STEM initiative, which has the goal of familiarising school students with the field of software development, has come to an end this month. The program had 24 participants, consisting of 18 males and 6 females from 7 distinct schools, who joined in the 2022/23 academic year. We are incredibly grateful to our staff for their support, 24% offered their time to the program by delivering tech talks, discussing life as a software engineer, explaining agile methodology, and of course coding applications!
