    - long commute times - the university should invest more in databases and IT. Everyone is doing the best they can, but you can only work with what you have

    - Good work-life balance - Lots of paid holiday (35 days/year) - Relatively good pay for PhD student - Good food at the restaurant - Interesting city

    Cons

    - Have to know French for life in Brussels (English is enough inside the campus) - No bonuses - Not so modern facilities - Slow administration

    I have been working at Vrije Universiteit Brussel full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Friendly research environment - Good salary for PhD student (can have a quite descent life if you are single) - Good work/life balance - 35 paid holidays per year

    Cons

    - Administration is slow, both inside and outside the university - Not a lot of industrial involvement during PhD program - English is fine inside the university but you need to know french for life (especially if you have family)
