      Pros

As the title suggests; - Management that actually listens - Leadership really cares about staff, nobody was let go during the unknown of a worldwide pandemic. - Core values are real and tangible - Career development plan - Sometimes it feels like a start-up (senior management are willing to listen to new ideas) - You don't feel like just a number - If you change your mind on who you want to be, they will help you get there - Technical or non-technical, I've seen both sides and I'm impressed - Great work-from-home initiative providing necessary gear to staff (very fast to adapt to COVID conditions) - Diverse workforce with multiple offices located worldwide - Great pay structure, benefits and health insurance cover - Best Place to Work award winner

      Cons

      - Things tend to take longer than expected

An extremely ok place to work.

      Pros

Pre-pandemic the socializing and office culture was great, most employees are quite nice. They give very good tech equipment for working.

      Cons

Core Values -> Core values are a great idea in practice, however as you increase in the levels they matter less and less and are more used as a tool to ensure lower level employees work harder. The No Ego value at this stage is just a joke, rampant egos everywhere. Nepotism -> The company thrives on nepotism, in nearly any function of the company you will find an employee who is related to a high level person. This leads to certain employees not having to go through the CPD process and skipping levels or people working in HR without any experience or relevant degrees. Its extremely unfair to other employees. Low Salary -> As you can see in other reviews version1 does not pay well, they always say they are in line with competitors but will never tell you who they compare to. A lot of people leave for higher salaries. CPD Process / Quarterly Reviews -> CPD process is long and arduous. It is difficult to actually get an increase and when you do the salary increase is minimal. Quarterly reviews are a nightmare, its tied directly to profit share so they are more a way to ensure constant high level of work which leads to burnout. Pathways -> the model they created to make career progression better. It's a glorified CV and is not helpful. Placement -> whether you are happy in your role or not can completely come down to what team you join. If you get put out on client site somewhere you can be quite unhappy and not feel like part of the company at all. Then if you're unhappy you may apply for a 'rotation' to a different team, these rarely are ever followed through and Version1 will hire externally. Then unfortunately as you applied for a rotation it shows that you are not committed to your team and prepare yourself to be treated very badly by management, there is a strong culture of managing employees out in Version1. Benefits - benefits are very average, nothing great. Whenever you see a company mention the 9 legal bank holiday days as a benefit you know they don't offer much. Awards - Version 1 love their awards, they have an award for everything (e.g. Great place to work, pathways awards). What people don't realize is these awards are not audits, there is no actual external person looking in Version1 and saying its a great place to work. These awards are based off networking and surveys from employees (less than half employees fill out these surveys and usually bad data is removed).

It all depends on where you're placed

      Pros

Friendly environment, most people are great and will try to help and collaborate. If you end up with a good client and a good team, you can have a very positive experience and a good career, but unfortunately as my review title says, this will all depend on where you're placed so it's really a lottery where you can win or you can lose. In line with this, if you're lucky enough to be assigned to a project performed on the Version 1 premises, you can enjoy plenty of flexibility, easy commuting (pre-covid times, they are in Dublin city centre) and a nice atmosphere. No dress code, no specific start and end times (so you can adjust this based on your needs), and a nice kitchen with fruit, coffee and cereal awaits for you. It is also a very good place to start a career in IT as their graduate program is very structured and well designed. Lots of learning are guaranteed for graduates and junior people.

      Cons

However, if you happen to be placed in a client or role you're not happy with, despite the warnings and complaints you give to management line, the so-called "rotation" will occur when it's too late already and you're completely burn out and already handed over your notice. Only then they will rush to offer you something different. Advice: they really need to improve this and act earlier before it's too late. Also in the number of years I've worked there I've seen a trend on "forgetting" about employees who have been in the company for a very long time, as the interesting career opportunities seem to be offered externally 90% of the time to new joiners instead of allowing current hires to apply internally. While I understand their business model (it's consultancy and the income depends on employees placed on a particular position in a client/project so the company wants to maximize this) it can be very frustrating when you feel stuck and want to grow your career, or you just need a change, but the company wants you in your current role because they make plenty of money having you there and will do nothing but to try to buy time to have you in your current role as long as possible. Obviously, just buying time never ends well. If you're unlucky enough to be sent to customer site, be prepared to bear with some nonsense such as customer micromanagement, clock-in, clock-out, work specific weekly hours (which can be different from your colleagues in the Version 1 office or other clients), specific dress codes, having to take mandatory holidays on certain days that the client is closed but Version 1 is not, and all sorts of customer-mandated conditions and particularities which lack flexibility, especially if you end up working for a Public Sector client. Then you will have the feeling that the people who work in the Version 1 office are privileged and you're just a second class employee. Also as many other reviews mention, the benefits package and salaries are not as competitive as they should, their benchmarks are really outdated and that's the main reason many good people who worked there for a long time are leaving the company these days. CPD (the internal category system) change salary increases are laughable as they are really small and not in line with what new joiners get at the same CPD level and stage.

      Pros

Some excellent core business values mean that support and team interaction are always available. They have adapted very well to remote work and employees needs during Covid, there has been no pressure to return to the office which suits many workers circumstances.

      Cons

Although work life balance is always promoted, strict adherance to demonstrating some of the business core values (i.e. commitment, excellence and drive) will lead to burn out. The push to excel is always there, and while I do appreciate it, that can lead to high stress.
