Good place if you're lucky to get a permanent contract
27 Feb 2023 - Research EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Very supportive and open environment. Fantastic Campus. Access to a great gym with a special price for UCD employees (around €40 per month, which includes the gym, group sessions, and Olympic swimming pool with tepidarium & sauna). UCD has a lot of academic software available, as well as various learning materials. Also, I found helpful free access to LinkedIn Learning. While UCD provides a relatively low salary, it pushes you to start your own company. UCD Nexus is here for this with specialists who can help to shape your idea and then guide you in implementing it.
Cons
5% increment in salary per year, so beware of getting into a trap by starting with a low wage! As in any academia, it is tough to get a permanent contract at UCD. So you may be working from one review to another, which is rather stressful. No insurance.
