Pros

Good product and really nice co workers

Cons

Management talks a big game about how caring and empathetic they are, but the mask slips whenever it’s actually needed Time off? Absolutely no problem, we encourage it, just make sure you hit your target (which is damn near impossible even if you don’t take time off). Everyone works days off, PTO, sick days. Management acts like you shouldn’t but also sets up the environment where you have to. Been treated unfairly? Make sure you raise it with leadership (who will pretend to listen the first time and then put you on the naughty list if you dare bring it up again). You’re truly a number in Udemy. They value diversity, just as long as it’s not diversity of opinion. If you have any of those, you’re not a culture fit.

Pros

Nice people with different background.

Cons

One major issue is the burnout and lack of work-life balance. The high targets and constant pressure to meet them leading to stress and anxiety. It's very common to see colleagues working during their PTO, bank holidays, sick leaves, outside of working hours just to keep up with these demanding goals. The target reminds the same if you take 3 weeks of holidays or been on sick leave. The idea is work harder before and after and plan your time off in advance. The constant push for results is overwhelming and lead to a less than desirable work environment.

Pros

Great product and decent people.

Cons

Udemy is not successful because the management is successful, but Udemy is successful despite the management. The management and human resources department in Dublin have a reputation for being harsh and tyrannical, and I sadly cannot disagree with that. There is also a strong tendency towards favouritism. Due to this tyranny and the managements professional incompetence in Dublin, many talented employees are leaving the company. Although Udemy itself supports remote working, the management is stubbornly clinging to a mandatory office policy.
