      Best hospital

15 Apr 2023 - Registered Nurse, BSN in Dallas, TX
      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Although no place is perfect, this is the best hospital I’ve worked at in my 27 years as a nurse. Good benefits and pay.

      Cons

Generally promote very inexperienced people to management. Also tend to reward hard work with more work and reward laziness with less work.

      Pros

Very organised administration, especially regarding HR contact, payroll, etc.

      Cons

Large company so personal experience depends on which field and people you're working with

The job itself is great, but they will screw with your pay.

      31 May 2023 - Clinic Staff Assistant

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Some days the providers will offer lunch Lunch is an hour long The job is fast-paced, but manageable, so the day goes by quickly

      Cons

The biggest cons I have is with pay. They mentioned a really great retirement program but they failed to mention that it was mandatory and comes out of pay automatically. They also didn’t inform me that the pay was once a month until after I started. If they mention an hourly rate, it means nothing unless it’s in the contract. They break down the yearly pay, cut it based on monthly, then tax it and take almost $300 for the retirement program. I was shorted on my check twice and they did nothing when I contacted HR and were very condescending about it. My last check at the company was only for two weeks of the full month that I worked. They cut corners where they can. They don’t even show on ADP what the hourly breakdown is so it’s difficult to to find proof of unfair compensation.

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know

4 Jun 2023 - Clinical Research Coordinator in Dallas, TX

      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Large research institution with exciting research. Generally good benefits with room for growth (depends on who you know)

      Cons

Management seems to lack skills and vision to inspire and execute successful teams. Many roadblocks to success due to individuals (and groups) more interested in maintaining status quo than realizing institutional objectives.

They can afford brand new buildings but not a livable wage for employees

31 May 2023 - Research Associate in Dallas, TX
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Quality of experience. I have an amazing team! Benefits are comparable.

      Cons

They can afford to build whole new buildings but they can't afford to pay their employees a livable wage and what they're worth. I have a master's and still have to have a 2nd job in order to make ends meet. You canNOT opt out of the TRS. It takes hundreds of dollars out of each pay-check for a retirement system that won't be enough to retire with. It isn't matching or anything.

      Average at best

24 May 2023 - Grants and Contracts Specialist
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

When you get hired in it is very difficult to be fired or let go.

      Cons

Working in Academia limits your ability to advance in your career and salary. Most staff positions are paid from State funds or Federal Research funds which has a strict cap. If you do well in your position you often are tasked with more responsibilities but not compensated. The oversight of the A&P leadership positions is poor at best.

Large campus means it can feel like you're a small cog in the machine.
