I worked at USAA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great 401k, great bonus, and good pay.

    Cons

Non stop calls, cant get 2 days off in a row, I had a bad manager who did not do her job and was rude and degrading.

    Advice to Management

You have some good management there but you should not allow any manager to belittle there employees or encurage cheating.

I have been working at USAA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Med benefits, time off, the security team on site are very nice and personable. There is also a apartment sized gym on site

    Cons

Schedules are not flexible and often include nights and weekends. Management treats employees badly with a smile. Focus is no longer on doing what is right but doing what makes usaa more money.

    Advice to Management

    Rethink your mission statement

I worked at USAA for more than a year

    Pros

Good Benefits and Bonuses Free USAA membership until they fire you

    Cons

No room for advancement Outdated technology Management will find any reason to boot you out by creating stories and having other managers and staff members back them up It really is like the military... snitches get awarded and promoted Floor reps are more knowledgable than management Rules are only enforced on those who don't drink the USAA juice Military members can be abusive Most people are on FMLA... within 6 months of taking phone calls

I have been working at USAA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Non-commissioned job and agent goals are attainable. Great medical leave benefits. Has it's own culture. Full time pay and benefits for part timers.

    Cons

If it's a phone job, be prepared change schedule every 6 months. Not much flexibility in schedule if you plan on going to school or have kids. Unable to go back to part time once you change to full time. Not even for medical reasons.

    Advice to Management

Have more work flexibility for employee's needs. Middle management style of employees needs to be more consistent,

I worked at USAA for more than 8 years

    Pros

Excellent company to work for and service of military members and their families.

    Cons

stagnant growth for frontline representatives to management levels, however additional work processes added to job duties to consolidate workload and seamless call to one person and eliminate transfers without additional compensation for the cross company duties added.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more to the front line and support new ideas.

I have been working at USAA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good pay, excellent benefits, they sure can throw a nice Christmas party, a wide range of schedules are available such as five day or four day options, daycare onsite, up to $100000 a year in education benefits.

    Cons

Management of time on the phone is closely monitored and phone reps have stringent sales metrics to adhere to. It's tough on those with young families because unplanned time off is frowned upon. Unfortunately, unless you are at the corporate office, once on the phone, that is probably where you will stay.

    Advice to Management

I've been very lucky and have had good managers so have nothing to add here.

I worked at USAA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The pay was fair, and the bonuses are nice. I received two raises, two bonuses and a promotion in the 15 months I was there. My coworkers were very nice, and really understood the concept of teamwork. The company tries really hard to keep the frontline employees, AKA phone reps, happy. Onsite cafeterias, Starbucks, and gyms, and shopping. Can do payroll deductions for meals if you choose to eat in the cafeteria.

    Cons

Large call volume, lots of issues with applications. The helpline people weren't very nice or helpful at times. The billing is a nightmare, trying to get any assistance from the billing department besides turning off autopay can be challenging. You will take a lot rate complaints, as USAA has raised the rates in several states. Lots of unengaged lower management. Was expected to handle some very complex issues... with little to no training or guidance.

    Advice to Management

Look at why so many MSR's are leaving such a great company. Call centers are a tough job, and the new performance metrics are making it unbearable.

I have been working at USAA

    Pros

great medical benefits, 8% 401k employer match, they give you the ability to purchase pto and sell what you didnt use. Time off is somewhat flexible, annual performance bonus and Christmas bonus. They also help you pay for your education up front instead of reimbursing you at the end of the semester.

    Cons

It is hard to move up. Many departments dont have a career pathway so apart from your title changing from associate to specialist and then to senior specialist you will remain doing the same job unless you have many years of experience in the job that you are trying to apply for. Its almost easier to quit and get hired again with a better paying job/title.
