Great starting position with room for advancement
11 Jan 2023 - Lead TeacherRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Good amount of paid vacation - Good benefits - Working with the kiddos - Starting salary isn't good, but is sufficient when you've moved up - A lot of ways to move up within the company, but it is very competitive - Free/almost free graduate programs - A lot of opportunities for overtime (great overtime pay)
Cons
- Communication between supervisors and staff is not always great - Behaviors of students can be dangerous, though there is sufficient training on how to handle these situations - Not a lot of recognition for work - Supervisors do not appreciate any employees wanting to leave for different opportunities, even though you've been a loyal employee for years and have given plenty of notice - Get upset if you try to use the sick time you've accrued - Can be cliquey on residential teams

The New England Center for Children Response
Thank you for your review. It is great to hear you are enjoying your benefits, gaining work experience, and working with your dedicated team members. It disappoints us to hear you feel your compensation and schedule do not live up to your expectations. We deeply appreciate how hard our direct care staff have been working, and provide generous overtime rates and retention bonuses which we hope demonstrate our gratitude for your commitment to our team and students. While providing 24/7 support to children with autism can bring some unique challenges and require flexibility on our part, we strive to always provide as much schedule flexibility as possible for our team members.
