    Pros

    Good benefits (401k & PTO)

    Cons

Management has no long term plan. There is no advantage over competition hence no new sales and no work. Always trying to catch up to competition. French favoritisms Currently in “survival mode”. Lots of lay-offs and restructuring

I worked at Thales full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good 401k match and vacation schedule. Flexible hours as needed depending on manager.

    Cons

Toxic environment - attrition rate is very high for a reason. Legacy programs pay the bills but are treated like red-headed step children. Too much micromanagement and metric chasing. French managers take 3 weeks off like normal; US people have to work a deal with the devil and still stay in touch while away. If you are going use the French management style, give your employees the French benefits. Pizza parties and kudos are nice, but consider paying people for all the extra hours they work (not just the contractors).

    Advice to Management

Stop making ridiculous schedules and promises to the customer. Engage engineers early in the project to get realistic timelines and equipment needs. Stop promoting people to VP/Director/etc. You need capable people who can do the work not just a bunch of managers creating metrics. You can turn this around if you talk to the people actually doing the work; otherwise Thales IFE will cease to exist.

I worked at Thales full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - The activities you get to do are dynamic, especially if you work with a project - it’s a big company and the name looks good on your resume - you’re surrounded by people with nice experience so you learn from them - the salaries are okay-ish

    Cons

    - nepotism is the only way to move forward in this company - very sexist workplace, HR can’t do much about it - they favor french nationals, the rest are just here to help the french nationals get to managerial positions, even if you’re not working in france. - if you don’t speak french, you will be marginalized. Even if you’re working outside of france, they don’t care. - crazy working hours. 10 hours / day, and that’s a good day, expect to stay in the office 13-14 hours.

    Advice to Management

    - stop having favorites and consider employees who best fit the role, not ones who’ll support your personal agenda.

I have been working at Thales full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good company for work life balance medical benefit, insurance, regular team cheering programs Good company to join Few possibilities to apply to internal job movements within Thales organisation and relocate to different cities around the world. Good company to shift around different roles and learning.

    Cons

French management preferring own people in growing than others. Internal job vacancies in offices are just for publish sake as positions are already planned to be occupied by favourites. Frequent management changes so discussions with managers are often useless as they will change over the time and their words will be useless.

    Advice to Management

French favouritism though is natural but should be avoided in a MNC company.

I worked at Thales full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They have health benefits and a free company picnic in the parking lot every year.

    Cons

-Stay away from this horrible company, they are a French company that has opened up multiple locations throughout the United States without understanding what the American working culture should be. -They have no real HR department. It’s outsourced to another company called 1st point. -The technology at the company is so outdated that they refuse to do anything about because it would cost to much money as I was told. Ridiculous place. Thales makes billions in revenues annually but, they are still on Outlook 2010 with some crap called Jabber. -In Outlook, you have to know everyone’s last name in order to email anyone. This was daunting because the company has thousands of employees Nation wide. They do this on purpose since you know, they are special. -This company will bend over backwards to support the men and their careers but, the women are nothing more than silly Secretaries for them. -They have blue collar workers in the sweat shop and the rest of the French morons running the Business side. When I keep saying the French people, they let the French employees immigrate into the States from France in order to maintain it as a French company. They like to do things the slow and stupid way with trips, fake conferences and weekly going away cakes for whoever gets a new job. It’s a joke. -In the New Jersey location, most of the employees there are lifers. Some are so bad that they sit there staring off into space avoiding eye contact because god forbid they might have to talk to someone or to do some work. -They have a subsidized lunch program in Jersey for the middle class people. What this means is that Thales will chip in $2 for each lunch bag as long the employee puts in $5 themselves. They do this out of the goodness of their own French hearts. -The male executives who have titles in all of the locations do nothing but fly around the planet for conference calls. They accomplish nothing but in wasting the company’s money. And remember, only the men are allowed to fly around. There are no female executives in that place so the women do not get anything. - Most of the company is full of High School graduates so, think of working at Thales as a pit stop. Don’t think for a second that you will have a career there. -The company has the potential to be good but, they don’t want to invest in Technology or their employees really. Sure, they have a silly tuition reimbursement program but, the amount is nothing in compariso to what Graduate level courses cost.

    Advice to Management

Pack up and leave the United States. You have no clue what an American workers’ needs are. There are plenty of people in France who don’t have jobs, why don’t you just shift your Business there and give your own people work? If they all had jobs at Thales, they wouldn’t have riots everyday.

I have been working at Thales full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Thales group is fine. Good health care benefits. 401k is satisfactory.

    Cons

Too many French expats in Irvine. They live very well in So. Cal. Leadership does not listen and if you do not have exec sponsors then you die on the vine like bad grape.

    Advice to Management

Get off the chair, take time to visit the working level and heed to advice. Going the way you are is causing failure and adding to toxic work place environment.

I worked at Thales full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible timing. No issues with leaves. 6.5 hours shift will mark your attendence for whole day. Good technology stack in few projects. Great products

    Cons

There are a lot of cons. - French Management rules the company. - Indian Manager was just a puppet of French manager and will never take stand for you. - There is very less transparency in the system. - Lot of Favouritism in the team. - No or improper KT is given. some old people in the team will not guide you as they don't want to lose their dependency. - Old people in the company are ruling and enjoying the perks. - Big brand with some process like small local companies. - they will show fancy JD but the work would be very bad and you will regret joining Gemalto/ Thales - Do not Join Digital payments/ mobile financial services - important tip. - HR are worst till date of my career. - Your work will never be appreciated if you are not in Indian and French manager favorite list. - Do not join for Devops or integration profile. It's completely waste. - very less people open to knowledge sharing., Indirectly there is politics but not visible openly. - Join at your risk. There is hire and fire system.
