I worked at State Street Global Advisors full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Nothing good to say here!

    Cons

Low pay, annual incentive compensation insulting, daily threat of being let go, morale in the toilet and pile on more work for less $$$$ with each layoff. Layoff rumors are constant and executive management under impression they are doing a good job while clients leave due to inaccurate reports, crappy customer service, and constantly missing client deliverable deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Value your U.S. based employees, stop looking at absolute cost savings off shore because the off shore work is sub par & being fixed by U.S. based employees. Charles River acquisition is a failure because short sighted lense on enterprise wide antiquated technology. Charles River limited capability and difficult to work with limited client benefit and value add.

I worked at State Street Global Advisors full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Good place to get a start in asset management industry -Good work/life balance, many people work from home and most people work 9-5

    Cons

-Very bureaucratic and conservative culture prevent things from getting done -Feels like company cares more about cost reductions than employee happiness -Terrible HR and recruiting department -Employee on-boarding is a huge pain, most new employees don't have email, floor, or systems access for weeks. -The outsourced IT help desk is awful and employees will often be on the phone for over an hour for very basic things like installing a basic software or creating a group email account

    Advice to Management

Fix employee on-boarding and HR/recruiting, as well as IT help desk.

I worked at State Street Global Advisors full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Ability to work on various project and smart group of people on the team I was on.

    Cons

Lack of work/life balance as advertised, management changes through the years in department made for a more dictator type work environment when it used to be team based and people cared about each other.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the old way of treating people fairly, caring about them, allowing work/life balance unless performance is affected.
