Pros

There are some great people at Shoemaker

Cons

Heavy emphasis on faith based culture which is geniune but can be less than inclusive. Organizationally the company is unorganized and often "branch" staff are not informed or included in training, procedure updates, staffing changes and the like. This company definately plays favorites amongst the staff & advisors. People who are not qualified or experienced are rewarded as team players. Expectations and pay structures are not clear.

Pros

Nice family atmosphere. At all major events a prayer is said and prayer requests are often taken at company wide meetings. It all depends on what department you are in.

Cons

Unequal treatment of advisors and employees. Some advisors have been let go for a lackluster performance while other advisors can pile up several thousand dollars of negative advisor balances and it is never addressed. The advisors then leave the company and the money is hardly ever collected. The CEO will also many times tell other managers he needs something without taking into consideration what the managers might be working on at the time. The managers then tend to take their frustrations out on the mid-level employees. The company also seems to take it personal when someone leaves for a career decision. The only people I saw leave on good terms were situations when they were having to move when their spouse got another job in another city. In situations when an employee's check might need to be adjusted the employee is not given an advance warning of the adjustment
