I have been working at SABIC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

At this point there are none. This is not a company that I would look to for employment. It is spiraling out of control.

    Cons

Leadership either doesn't have a clue what's going on or doesn't care what's going on. There are no leaders at this company, just managers trying to preserve their and their cronies jobs. The company is trying to implement a new global operating system, right after reorganizing and splitting the business and at the same time shutting down their headquarters and laying off their senior core employees. "Leaders" are... trying to convince people to move to the new headquarters in TX where job grades and salaries will be "reviewed" for regrading in two years. The majority of leadership have managed to secure spots at a local plant site or are leaving the company. So while they are telling everyone Houston is fabulous it's odd that they aren't going. Extremely difficult for US employees to adjust to a Saudi work culture. Crippling bureaucracy. The other cons are correct. The intent for this company is for Saudization so unless you are willing to live in The Kingdom and you are a man, there will be no career path here in the US. Many rumors that the company is on the chopping block to be sold. Not only is the emperor naked, he's standing out in 100 degree sunshine with no sunscreen on. Stay away.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example. Put your employees first and not yourselves. Get a backbone and earn your pay by stepping up and telling the Saudis the truth regarding their decisions.

I worked at SABIC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits. Insurance, pension, vacation, 401k, tuition assistance.

    Cons

Employees are overworked and underpaid. Promises are made from management and not kept. They do not promote extremely talented people; they use them until they get fed up and leave. A lot of incompetent management that sit around and don't do their jobs. Also they think since you have good benefits they can pay you really low...competitors pay significantly more.

    Advice to Management

Pay competent people more money. Crack down on the lazy employees and reward the hard working/talented ones.

I have been working at SABIC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

excellent benefits which include a pension plan, 401k sharing, tuition reimbursement, and yearly bonus. Solid work life/balance. Good work/life balance

    Cons

limited training opportunities. Daily grind can be stressful.Product knowledge can be quite overwhelming without any prior experience in the Plastic industry. Management are pretty involved in day to day operations. No commissions or overtime. Finally, promotions shouldn't be based on HR's ability to replace someone's current role but rather talent and production

    Advice to Management

Pay all of your sales people commission, not just outside sales, this is essential motivation for any sales person. Keep providing excellent benefits, look to promote from within more often, and offer more opportunities for advancement at a faster pace. It's deflating to see top level execs always seeking outside people for the quality positions in the company.
