I worked at River Island Clothing part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Worked with lovely clothes, got to see what was coming in, could buy on sale items before the public. Music was ok

    Cons

Manager was an absolute nightmare. Middle management were catty and let the employees they liked take longer breaks or leave early. Long hours on your feet. Had to look immaculate during every shift. Had to wear awful ear pieces and listen to other staff members shouting to each other all day while trying to speak with customers.

I worked at River Island Clothing full-time

    Pros

    Good discount - Management 50% - Staff 40% 3 times a year uniform allowance

    Cons

Long hours, unable to claim back if management Unrealistic timeframes Too many channels of information to keep tabs or action every day HEAVY amounts of pressure River was once known for looking after staff welfare when it's such a shame, that in fact, the stress and negativity within area management, work load, unrealistic expectations etc is not worth the job itself

I worked at River Island Clothing part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some of the people Discount Nice store

    Cons

Long hours are met with zero thanks Care more about tasks than they do about customers (they claim the opposite but NO) Blame culture is awful When you ask for days off on annual leave it seems ‘frowned upon’ so basically you get made to feel bad for asking to utilise YOUR BENEFIT and even better luck if you want anything off at a weekend or in December as they are ‘too busy’ far from it
