      Hire at the bottom and stay there

      Pros

      It’s a government job...stable. Too stable.

      Cons

      You will never see a raise unless the BOS sense tension every decade or so. They have wide payscales but they will start you at the bottom and keep you there as long as they can since they have no official plan for career advancement.
