    I worked at Pearson VUE

    Pros

If you manage to be hired for a benefit eligible position, the benefits are decent.

    Cons

Company culture demands conformity. Most field positions do not offer any benefits. The company culture is secretive and discriminatory. Employees file complaints constantly. There is much drama among entry level people who are often down on their career luck, and therefore act out emotional illness. Pearson seems be an end-of-the-road company so they attract mostly dispirited and depressed workers. There is much disrespect among peers and management which fuels a culture of paranoia and distrust. I regret wasting productive years with this horrible company which cannot fix its very fundamental lack of professionalism, credibility and productivity.

    Advice to Management

Show some respect for education since that is the company business. Get rid of the out of touch sexist CEO and all his egomaniac manipulative enablers. Become a profitable and progressive company. Make better hiring decisions by attracting educated and experienced professional managers with respectable and serious credentials. Pay your entry level workers a living wage and pay your managers a competitive wage.

I worked at Pearson VUE full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Mostly great helpful co workers and line management. Good working hours. Monthly bonus based on performance. Clear policies and procedures for employees. Additional benefits such as health and sickness protection, discount schemes, occasional random acts of generosity shown by senior management.

    Cons

Poor working conditions, air conditioning issues meant no heating in winter and unacceptably high temperatures in winter. This no doubt caused health issues for staff but no allowance made for unsatisfactory working conditions was ever made by management when dealing with absences. Other policies are also rigidly enforced with little or no allowance made for infringing them even if employees were not at fault. Loss of bonus was usually the result even if there were mitigating circumstances. Bonus pinching appeared to be a favorite management past time. Inconsistent application of quality guidelines and regular uncommunicated changes to procedure which employees would suffer for retrospectively. Few development opportunities, though some with connections did find a way out. Bullying by Line Managers appeared to be rewarded although not all to their credit were willing to do so for their own gain, only the one who had very limited emotional intelligence and appeared to revel in disciplining staff for trivial indiscretions. The others always towed management policy line but as humanely as they could. Huge staff turnover.

    Advice to Management

Treat people fairly. Life and work is not black and white, there are grey areas. Everyone makes mistakes treat people and their actions on merit, not by the book.

I worked at Pearson VUE part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Central location easy to get to, clients are good to interact with

    Cons

When things are slow.... what out for those that like to push you out the door so they can acquire your shifts, and when they decide what is appropriate who sets the boundary, is the ones that have HR experience or do they just tell the others how to go about destroying other staff experiences And once your out the door there is no help for you at all so leave with the knives in your back just where others left them

    Advice to Management

review the reason for the high staff turn over ask those that have left, surely there must be a reason

I worked at Pearson VUE part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - snacks on the job - test administrator appreciation day rewards - discounted/online Pearson textbooks

    Cons

    - Can get boring - The frequency of hours available change every month. You could work 30 hours one week and then 15 the next. - If the testing center closes early due to testers completing their exams early, you don't get paid for your full scheduled time, you have to clock out early.

    Advice to Management

Pay test administrators for their full scheduled shift. You made money for the paid test slot already the least you can do is pay your employee for the entire shift.

I have been working at Pearson VUE part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very part time, meet many people

    Cons

12 hour shifts with no lunch break Poor pay/raises Management at this time is not fully trained but is training new hires Childlike behavior in this test center Open on Saturdays when no one wants to work, so the same people are always stuck there

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to be willing to FULLY train test center managers and be more responsive to their regional centers. HR needs to solve issues without asking employees to do their dirty work for them .
